Flowers in Mason Jar

This painting was done in acrylic paint using multiple different mediums and techniques. To create different textures of the leaves, I used various shades of green and blue. I also played around with different types of brush strokes and brush sizes for them. To give the jar a more transparent texture, I added some more strokes of white to the inside of it. This also added a certain light source, and shine. for the flowers themselves, I began with a simple outline in white paint of them. Then using a flat and thick brush, I dabbed the brush over top of the outline in a pink color. I also mixed the pink with white closer to the top of the flowers to create the light source. After this step was done for all four of them, I then brought some Q-tips from my house, and tied them all together with a rubber band. Alternating from whites, purples, pinks, and reds, I then prepared the Q-tips with paint. Since I was using acrylic paint, I decided to put the purple paint on first, then mix with white until it faded into pure white near the top of the flower, facing the light source. I repeated this step with all of the flowers.
One thing I would have done differently about this piece is the background. I wish I would have covered the entire back with more black so now white was visible.
I feel that my techniques with the flowers were the most successful thing about this piece. Although I was nervous to try it, it still turned out good and I am satisfied with the results.
